Local 1645 Participates in 2008 Utah Fire Caucus Luncheon

Members of Salt Lake City Local 1645, the Professional Fire Fighters of Utah and several Utah IAFF locals participated with other Utah fire service organizations in the state’s Joint Council of Fire Service Organizations (Joint Council) in the fourth annual Utah Fire Caucus Luncheon on February 4, 2008. This year’s event at the Utah Capitol drew about 50 of the state’s 104 legislators. Firefighters came to Salt Lake City from all over the state to participate. Utah Fire Caucus co-chairs for 2007 are Sen. Curtis Bramble, Sen. Patricia Jones, Rep. Brad King and new co-chair, Rep. Todd E. Kiser.  Rep. Kiser presented an award to outgoing co-chair, Rep. David Clark,  in recognition of his service from 2004 to 2007. Delta Fire Department firefighters Rick Bublitz, Bruce Curtis and Jared Rawlinson received the Distinguished Service Award on behalf of Millard County fire officers and firefighters from Sen. Jones for their outstanding efforts to protect life and property in Central Utah's massive Milford Flat fire last summer.  The Utah Fire Caucus is a non-partisan organization that is modeled after the Congressional Fire Services Caucus (CFSC). It receives support from Utah’s Joint Council and, like the CFSC, Utah Fire Caucus members are not required to take specific positions on legislation. Rather, they are asked to pledge support in a way that best benefits fire departments within their respective legislative districts.
